UK Companies Missing out on Free Training
| Date Added: Wed March 14 2007 |
Almost two-thirds of businesses in England are unaware of the free or low-cost training opportunities available to their staff at their local Further Education (FE) colleges, according to the Learning and Skills Council.
62% of those employers taking part in a recent YouGov survey claimed that they do not use the FE sector to train staff and 43 per cent were not aware that they are able to access subsidised employee training at FE colleges.
92 per cent of employers surveyed who said that they have used the FE sector for training, indicated that they had benefited. 54 per cent said that the training had increased productivity, 64 per cent that it had boosted staff motivation and 49 per cent claimed it had helped employee retention.
LSC spokesman Ray Dowd comments: "The research shows that thousands of companies are missing out on a host of business benefits through a lack of awareness of low-cost or free training available at FE colleges and other local providers." |
