Small Businesses lead the way with VoIP
| Date Added: Tue April 10 2007 |
Small businesses are most likely to be early adopters of internet-enabled phone systems.
A report by BT Business has revealed that 25 per cent of the UK's SMEs currently use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. However, according to the survey, this is percentage is expected to rise dramatically with 57 per cent planning to use VoIP within the next year.
Typically, the smaller the business, the more likely it is that web-based telephony will be running, implying that budget-conscious businesses are taking the opportunity to maximise the benefits of free or low cost calls.
~There has been a huge increase in the use of VoIP by the UK's smaller businesses and that looks set to continue,~ says Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business.
~Making VoIP calls over your broadband connection gives you a cost-effective additional line, as well as offering you capped-price calls to mobile and international destinations. However, there is a large proportion of the community, particularly medium sized businesses, who could still benefit from understanding more about VoIP and using it to the best advantage of their business.~ |
