Latest research shows the greatest concern for 62% of the UK's owner managers is managing their cashflow.
According to a survey from the Yorkshire Bank, 44 per cent of respondents indicate that they spend a considerable amount of their time chasing late payments from their clients. In addition, 36 per cent of owner managers claimed that their bank only showed interest in providing advice to larger organisations.
One of the most telling findings was that owner managers don't know whom to turn to for financial advice.
Gary Lumby, Yorkshire Bank's head of retail and small business, observed: "It's worrying that smaller businesses don't know where they can turn to for business advice and feel that banks don't cater for their needs."
"This is particularly concerning when you consider that our research shows 42 per cent of people set up their own business in a field that is alien to their experience and that just one in four (27 per cent) running their own business have any managerial experience at all."
