Stokvis Industrial Boilers (International) Ltd (also known as Stokvis Energy Systems) was established in 1985. Since then, it has grown in stature and product range and today provides ‘state of the art’ Boiler Plant, Plate Heat Exchangers, Pressure Sets, Booster Sets and complete Packaged Plant Rooms, many of which are installed in some of the UK’s most prestigious buildings.
Ever ambitious, the directors of Stokvis were eager to seize the opportunity to buy-out the major share-holder when he decided to retire from the day to day running of the business to become Chairman. They approached SME Invoice Finance with a view to arranging funding having received a recommendation from the accountant who was engaged to value the company. They also met with a major bank they had received finance from previously.
In the event there was no contest. Andrew Dimbleby, the Commercial and Technical Director of Stokvis, explains, “We chose SME partly on the grounds of cost, which is always an important consideration of course, but also because we appreciated the approachable, human interface that SME presented as opposed to the sometimes facelessness of a large, corporate bank. SME structured and delivered a £500,000 Confidential Invoice Discounting facility within the tight timeframe to which Stokvis was working.
Mr Dimbleby continues, “SME has enabled us to achieve our goal and complete the management buy-out. Now, with our funding assured, we’re looking forward to growing our business by expanding our portfolio.”
